Types of Loft Insulation
Mineral WoolMineral wool insulation is the most commonly used type of insulation for lofts. If the beams in your loft are evenly spaced and a regular distance apart, then rolls of mineral wool insulation can be used. One layer will be fitted between the joists (beams) to insulate them and then another positioned at right angles to the first, going over the beams and making the insulation up to the recommended depth.
Our professional and accredited installers are well informed and will make sure the optimum depth for your loft insulation is met.
You may well be eligible for a grant to provide you with FREE insulation.
Insulation BoardsThese can be fitted between the rafters in your roof space and are suitable if the space is already in use as a room. Insulating the roof itself rather than the floor will cause less disruption if the room is currently in use. It is important to make sure the boards are close fitting between the rafters to minimize draughts and heat loss. The roof insulation can then be covered with plasterboard to create a smooth looking ceiling for your room.
If there is space, insulated plasterboard can be used to create insulation around the rafters themselves as they are usually quite thin. Eco Specific’s specialist installers will make sure there is still enough ventilation to the rafters.

Storage Heaters Replacements
Storage heaters use electricity, usually overnight when prices are lower, to heat up ceramic bricks stored within the storage unit. This system of heating is very suitable for people using the Economy 7 type tariffs, which charges a lower rate for using energy overnight when the demand is generally lower (typically between midnight and 7am).
Using a storage heater means customers can make use of off-peak electricity prices but still have daytime heating throughout their home. As electricity is more expensive than gas in most cases, using storage heaters is only really an effective saving unless you are not already connected to a mains gas supply.
Storage heaters come in different sizes, as do rooms in houses. Eco Specific can advise you of the best size to heat your home effectively and efficiently
